Well, the day I've dreaded finally came...I'm officially old now. The big 4-0. Michael started off my birthday weekend by decorating with a banner and streamers all in the kitchen! I woke up today to my favorite breakfast (yogurt, fruit and granola...and also bacon)! He did all the dishes afterwards. Then, my mom and Michael took us to Mi Cocina - my favorite place in the world! We sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather. We went over to Gaga's for an egg hunt, presents, and yummy banana pudding!
I came home to more sweet presents....my favorite was a jar full of 40 reasons why Michael and the kids love me. I love it! Those kind of gifts are so special to me.
I had a wonderful day with family, lots of phone calls, cards, and love! I couldn't have asked for a better birthday weekend. I have a pretty great family, and I'm so blessed!

Good Friday!
Today, we painted ceramic crosses to remember what Jesus did for us on the cross!
After that, we headed up to the Hyatt Regency for LTC (Leadership Training for Christ)! The kids got to see Reunion Tower up close, even though we didn't go up and see it. However, it was still pretty cool to them.
Bible Bowl time! I didn't get as many group pictures as I wanted, but it was hard with Michael and I both judging. At least I got these!
And we even saw Madeline there!
They both did a great job, and worked so hard! We'll see on Sunday night what awards they received! Regardless of what they get, they learned a lot about 1 Samuel and had a good time - which is all I ever want out of this experience for them. It's a lot of hard work, but a lot of fun at the same time!

Lock-in...
The kids both had a fun review night at church for Bible Bowl (real one is next weekend). They had a mock Bible Bowl, played jeopardy, ate pizza and cookies, and had a lot of fun! The younger kids left at 10:00, while the older kids went bowling from 11-1am, then to In-and-Out Burger afterwards!
They came back to the building afterwards and played games all night, never going to sleep! She's going to be one tired girl today, but I think she had a great time!

New floors!
This wasn't in the budget for this year, but we had to do something when our kitchen tile started popping up! We've needed to replace it for awhile, but this forced us to do something quick. We decided to continue the rest of the flooring into the kitchen, contacted the company who did our floors, and had them out in two days!
The night before, we had a little fun "decorating" our tile! The kids thought it was fun to write all over the floor, and had a good time being goofy with it!
It was a mess!
And after! We're happy, and so glad all the work is done!

Yellow bike!
I have seen these yellow bikes all over the metroplex, and finally figured out that you can rent them. People leave them everywhere, and you see them in the most random places. Well, look who shows up after school getting a ride in a yellow bike basket!? They were laughing so hard!
3rd nine weeks...
Nathan got "A" honor roll! He was hoping for principals honor roll again, but he was happy with what he got!
Madison got all A's and one B. She was so upset about the B, but I'm pretty proud with all her pre-AP classes!
I can't believe we only have one more nine week term to go. Here comes the crazy end-of-school busyness, and the tears!

Madison's birthday!
Madison woke up to balloons again, and picked donuts for breakfast!
Since we're on spring break, she got to plan our day today! She chose putt-putt, and it was a beautiful spring day to be outside. A bit windy, but it didn't seem to mess with our scores!
Next, she wanted to go get a coffee-free drink at Shoemaker and Hardt.
And for the best part, she chose Mi Cocina for dinner! It was a perfect day to eat outside on the patio, and the kids had a blast walking around the pond, feeding the ducks, and climbing the rocks!
Such a struggle to get on top of the horse!
I think she had a fun birthday! I can't believe my baby is 14....time flies way too fast. Happy birthday, Madison!
14 years...
I say this every year, but I can't believe how fast my babies are growing! It's almost impossible now to really remember this sweet baby stage...
Now she's so independent. She doesn't need us quite as much as she used to, and it's just a teeny bit sad. Bittersweet, really. She does her own laundry, packs her own school lunch, makes sure her homework is done, reads her devotionals on her own every night, etc. So grown up! But at the same time, she still loves being a kid. Even though they still fight (although it has slowed down a bit), she loves playing with Nathan! They can have such a blast together, just being silly. She loves being outdoors, whether we're walking, at the park or just picking up trash!
Madison has come so far with her clarinet, and loves playing in band. She's very hesitant about marching band next year, mainly for the time commitment and stress, but we're hoping it will be a wonderful experience for her! She has a real love for music. She has taught herself several songs on the piano, and she's really good at it. Most of the songs are Christian songs, and I love hearing her practice. She also got a ukulele for her birthday, and has already taught herself a song! She just has a natural ability and ear for music. Also, for art...she's amazing at freehand drawing! Madison is a great student, in every subject, and has always done so well in school.
She loves Mi Cocina, Olive Garden, and Whataburger....and anything that is sweet! But she's also very adventurous and will try anything - her taste buds are a bit more matured than Nathan's! Her favorite shows are The Goldberg's and Survivor. She loves fixing her hair, and has mastered several different braiding styles "because mom doesn't know how to do it"! She spends a lot of free time texting her friends, and actually likes school because she gets to see them (that might be a girl thing). Madison has finally reached the age of wanting to sleep in...the girl could sleep forever if we let her! She's definitely entering the teenage phase, and I can hardly believe it!
Since being baptized, she has definitely grown spiritually. She has grown through listening to Christian music as well, and loves to draw using Scripture! She takes notes at church, reads devotionals every day, and I think our new church has been so great for her. She's spent a lot of time studying for LTC Bible Bowl, and has learned a lot the past few months in 1 Samuel. She really loves God, and shows it through her caring and sensitive heart!
Madison, I love you so much! I can't believe you only have two more years before you drive...you're growing into such a beautiful young lady! I love your sense of humor, and your sensitivity towards others. You add so much to our family. I pray that you always stay focused on God and that you live your life for Him. Remember to always see the good in life, and show others your joy! I love you more than you know. Love, Mom

A rare mood...
After spending all morning on LTC paintings, we decided to get some fresh air and enjoy the day. The kids were being extra sweet with each other, and it's so rare, I had to capture it! They were having a great time playing hide-and-go-seek, relaxing in the sun, and just being outside!

Lacey and Cody!
Aunt Traci, Lacey and Cody came into town on Saturday! Bad news is that Madison had the flu, but good news is that she felt better by Sunday and was able to spend some time with them! Nathan got to see them on Saturday, but Sunday we went over to Doo's for a cookout!
We also celebrated Madison's birthday while everyone was there!
Madison has never seen the candles that re-light - it freaked her out a little!
Tuesday we headed to the Rainforest Cafe, and the kids had a blast!
Me and my sister!
Everyone with Gaga!
We ended our trip at Hana, a restaurant very similiar to Kobe Steaks. The kids were able to get their Japanese Sprites, and we had a very entertaining cook!
We had a great visit with lots of laughs and tons of fun. It was a shorter visit than normal, but it was good. The kids already miss Lacey and Cody!
