Our first swim of the season!

We always look forward to Memorial Day weekend because that's usually when we first hit the pool! It's our official start to summer. The kids look forward to this weekend every year about 3 months prior to it! It was a great day for swimming, and the water wasn't too cold.

Yes, this would be my child who insisted on wearing these Minnie Mouse sunglasses instead of his spiderman sunglasses!

A little chilly at first!

Nathan wasn't as brave this year, but he slowly warmed up as we were out there. He wanted us to hold him while he swam, but I think he'll get used to it soon. I need to sign him up for swim lessons this summer now that he's old enough!

Madison picked right back up with her swimming! She was a little worried at first and said, "Mommy, I'm embarrassed because I FORGOT how to swim!".

As long as there is water splashing, we have one happy little boy.

Here's to the start of a great summer full of fun! Just three more days of school for Madison, and the real fun begins! I'm so ready to have her home for a couple of months!

Last day of preschool...

Nathan has really developed a love for school, but he is definitely excited about summer being here! Here is a picture from his first day of preschool, and then today - his last day of preschool! He's grown so much - physically, emotionally and mentally!

He had a little program today and then a luncheon afterwards. They all wore red because they sang "R-E-D". I got this on camera, but I can't upload here. My old camera won't record anymore, and our flip video died. But it was THE cutest thing ever! My little sweetie was just shining on that stage with so much enthusiasm! You could hear him over everyone! He is definitely the performer of my two.

And a performance of the Tooty-Ta! He really loves this song!

His teacher, Ms. Tracey. After Ms. Janna left, I wasn't sure how things would go because he loved her so much. But everything worked out, and he grew to love Ms. Tracey just as much!

One of his best girlfriends...Samantha.

And his other best girlfriend...Michelle.

Such a lady's man already!

I can't believe he only has one more year of preschool. This time next year I'll be crying and crying, because another phase of his life is over. He's growing up so fast...I'm so proud of my little boy.

Princess for a day!

Madison had a Girl Scout outing this afternoon - Princess for a day. I think it was actually just she and Brynn who attended the afternoon session, but they had a really good time! I wasn't able to go because I was sick, but thanks to Brynn's mom, I have pictures! They got their nails painted, make-up done, hair fixed with glitter hairspray and a tiara, had cupcakes, "tea", and played the limbo. For $10, it was a really great outing...they had a blast!

Nathan's class picture...

I can't believe he's growing up so fast. Preschool. And he's almost through with PreK3. One more year until he starts real school. I can't even think about it.

Here's his class picture! Notice all the girls? Nathan LOVES it, and is actually standing in between his two girlfriends. Apparently, those three are inseparable. :)

End of year party for Girl Scouts!

Madison had her last meeting and end of the year party today at Girl Scouts! I can't believe we are through her 2nd year of Girl Scouts already! Her best friend, Brynn, was able to join her troop, and they are both so excited!!

Madison was one of five girls who were on time for every meeting!

And, she won the award for "Best behaved"! I am so proud of my sweet girl! Maybe she can give some lessons to Nathan. :)

Snowcone and cookie time!

Her troop, minus a few girls who weren't there!

Her Girl Scout leader, Jennifer, gave her a patch and a sweet note. The patch was a brownie that said, "Brownie - sweet". The note said, "Madison, I saw this patch and I thought of you. I have really enjoyed having you in our troop. You are always a joy to be around and you always work so hard and I am so proud of you. I hope you have a fabulous summer! Ms. Jennifer". I feel so lucky that she is in this troop, with some wonderful leaders (Ms. Tracie too!). They work so hard for the girls, and she's learned so much the past two years from this experience. I hope she wants to continue in Girl Scouts for a long long time!

Grapevine Main Days...

We haven't seen the Traylors in a LONG time, so we decided to meet halfway and spend the day at Grapevine Main Days festival. It was a gorgeous day - perfect to be outside with friends! I think it's been about 3 years since the girls saw each other, and Madison didn't remember Kylie, but they quickly became friends. They are only a year apart, and Kody and Nathan are only 3 months apart!

The day started out really chilly, especially with the wind. So that made one little boy very happy that he could wear his jacket! (He's got a thing with wearing jackets, even if it's burning up outside!). We got to ride a free shuttle over to the festival, so we didn't have to worry about crowds at all!

Michael and I have our picture with this statue, so I had to get one of the kids! Nathan is mostly concentrating on trying to stay on the statue's leg - he was falling off!

They were laughing so hard at this "tall" man! They were both amazed and kept staring at him.

And just to go back a little, here are Madison and Kylie at the Wiggles concert. Madison was 2 1/2 and Kylie was 3 1/2! They've grown so much...sometimes I have a hard time remembering back to when my baby was so little!

There was an area with a ton of tricycles, and of course, Nathan picked the pink and purple one! I think this might have been his favorite area...this boy loves riding bikes. He almost took a few kids out though, with his wild driving!

They had little picnic tables with coloring books and play-dough!

The petting zoo was a big hit...

Nathan went right up to all the animals and wasn't scared at all. The goat was sleeping (or just pretending really well!), but Nathan kept trying to get him to eat. He wasn't giving up.

Madison thought it was pretty neat that the cup with the feed in it was an ice cream cone, and that she could feed the animals the cone too!

They had a dancing competition, and Nathan got right out there and started dancing by himself! It took Madison a little more prodding to do it, but she ended up having fun. And they all got medals for participating!

Lots of giggles for this one....the Tea Cups!

And just to prove I was there! Nathan was too into figuring out his cotton candy to look at the camera.

We had such a great day!! We were there most of the day, so half the time was spent with friends and the other half was just us. It really got me looking forward to our family vacation next month - I can't wait to have some more quality time where we're just having fun together and enjoying each other. This was a perfect day though, and it was nice seeing some old friends!
