Madison has been SO excited all summer long for this day to get here. She's been counting down on a calendar we made, and has talked about this for so long! Mommy and daddy, on the other hand, have NOT been looking forward to it. It officially means she's growing up. Real school. She's entered a new phase of her life, and it's hard to see her grow so fast. It's AMAZING watching her grow and learn and become her own person. But it's also sad, because I want her to stay little forever.

Yesterday, we were talking about all the fun things she gets to do, and I said, "Mommy wants to go to kindergarten too! Can I come with you?" She said, "NOT in my classroom. You can come, but in another classroom. That's the deal!" I laughed, but really realized that the older she gets, the less she needs me. I know, I know, she's only 5, but it happens so quick.

I woke her up this morning at 6:30...bright and early for our bright and early school! I'M going to have to adjust to this too! She was groggy, but after about 2 seconds, she started smiling after I said, "It's the first day of kindergarten!"

I tried to make her eggs and bagels look like Mickey Mouse with the raisins. She was laughing at me!

No more counting down! It's HERE!

We got a picture with her substitute teacher (Mrs. Carmichael). Her real teacher is having a baby TODAY and will be out for 6 weeks! I was worried at first about the transition, but Madison seems excited to hear about the baby and see pictures. Plus Mrs. Aldrich (her real teacher) said she was coming by each week to read them books, so they'll get to know her. I'm excited about having her - she won "teacher of the year" last year and is apparently VERY well liked! So we'll see. I guess I'll get a picture of Madison with Mrs. Aldrich when she comes back!

My big girl! I still can't believe she's in kindergarten now. I told myself I wouldn't cry, and when I said goodbye, tears just started flowing. I've been choking up all morning! I just pray that God wraps His arms around my baby today and helps her to be confident and happy! I can NOT wait to pick her up at 2:30 to see how her day was.
