Madison decided to write another story for the PTA Reflections again this year. Her story last year went to district, and then state, but it didn't go past that. I still think that's pretty amazing, and so did she! The theme this year was Dream, Believe, and Inspire. A little harder to come up with a story, but she finally did after a lot of brainstorming and hard work. And I think it's great...she did so good! Well see how she did in a few weeks, although we'll be gone on awards night! :(

Chelsea’s Lesson
“This line is so long!!” I cried. We were going on a cruise ship in the Pacific
Ocean. “Next!” said the guy who took our
tickets. We gave him our tickets and
climbed aboard!! There were hardly any
seats left! “Mom! Please! I don’t want
to go here! I’m too scared!” I screamed.
My dad was tugging my arm while saying,”
Chelsea! Come on! Stop complaining! Let’s make this trip a good trip!”
Everybody gave me a weird look on their face because I was scared. My dad’s sweaty
palms accidently let go of my sweaty palms so I accidently bumped into the
ticket guy! I felt tears dripping down
my cheeks as mom called me to sit down next to my sister, Makenzie. I stomped back to my sister as she was
bragging about her not being afraid of anything. “AAAAGGGGGHHHH!” I had slipped on a drink spill and on my enemies,
the ice cubes. Now I felt really
embarrassed!!! My dad ran towards me as
I was starring at his twinkling eyes reflected by the bright sun. Dad pulled my arm so I could get up. I looked like a shark that had just eaten a
fish because I slipped in red punch! My
mom handed me some tissues and water. Then I dashed back to my seat pretending like
it didn’t happen. I tried not to bring
any more attention to myself. “Ha! Ha! I’m not afraid of anything and I didn't
slip into a big puddle of fruit punch!” Makenzie whispered as the safety
director was showing us around the ship.
He brought us our bags that felt
like they had bricks in them! We
stumbled into our room that was as tiny as a crumb. “This is our room?” Makenzie asked with a
surprised look on her face. I opened the
window and glanced at the sparkling ocean.
I had a frown on my face. I
stomped back to my bedroom and slammed the door. I took my pillow out of my suitcase and set
it on my squishy, small bed. Tears
dripped from my eyes like my eyes were clouds and the tears were the
raindrops. Makenzie sneaked into my room
and plopped on my bed. She talked to me
like my tears were invisible! Then I
pulled the paper thin covers on top of me.
When I opened my eyes, it seemed like it was the night sky in my
covers. Then Makenzie got Sprinkles, my
stuffed animal dog, out of my suitcase so I could snuggle with him. My dad walked into my room to have a “private
talk” with me. “Hey sweetie, I’m sorry I
yelled at you, will you forgive me?” said dad.
Then I said that I would forgive him. He walked out of my room as I
stepped out of bed and got my slippers on.
I walked out to the living room,
and saw my mom drinking some sweet tea and watching TV. I asked my mom what she was watching. “I am watching a shark movie! Wanna join? “ she asked. I said no because if I watched it, it would
make me even more frightened of the sharks in the ocean! Dad was outside on the porch with his hand on
his forehead and his elbow on the arm rest.
I wondered if he was frustrated.
I went out to glance at the ocean.
“Screeeeech!” was the sound of the glass door when it opened. “Hey honey”, my dad said sadly. I walked over and observed the ocean. “Look!” I shouted with fear. “There are sharks!” I screamed. Makenzie and my mom raced to the porch. It was like it was a race to see who could
get to the finish line first! I was really
scared when I saw them. I scooted away
from the gate, and ran back inside.
“They’re dolphins!” shouted Makenzie.
We saw their fins flopping in and out of the water. It was like a talent show! “The dolphin poked his head out!” called
Makenzie. It swam closer to us. It got so close to us that my dad could
almost pet it. “Can me and Chelsea take
a picture?” asked Makenzie. My dad said
yes. “Oh no!” I called. The picture looked like a ghost because it
swam away and made it look blurry.
“Oooooohhhhh” hummed my sister.
She was trying to make me scared!
Dad looked at
his watch. “It’s time for dinner!”
exclaimed dad. So we walked to the grossest
place in the world, Florida’s CafĂ©.
“Ew! I will give you all my $49
if we don’t go here!” I shouted. I felt
like I was going to throw up like a volcano about to erupt. “Ooooh, that looks good! They have brownies!” called Makenzie as we walked
in. I was staring at the place and
couldn't believe we were really eating here.
“AAAAAGGGHHH!” I shouted excitedly.
There was my favorite food in the world, chicken pot pie! I didn't even care if everyone was looking at
me because I was so happy! I jumped
while the guy was leading us to our booth seats. “What would you like to drink?” asked our
waiter. “Sprite!” I called. “Lemonade!” Makenzie called. “Chelsea, Makenzie, you need to use your
manners”, my dad whispered. CRASH! The waiter had spilled the glass drinks. “Man, that was my favorite drink. Now I am going to have the worse lunch ever!”
I whined. “I’m sorry guys. We ran out of Sprite. What do you want sweetie?” The waiter apologized. “Lemonade” I said while pouting. “Please!” I said quickly. I almost forgot to use my manners.
Twenty
minutes later we were done so we headed back to our room. “Wow, it’s already 9:00” called dad. ”Ring!”
My mom had got an email that said –
Please
come to our amazing midnight party that has dancing and desserts! We will have a grand prize that is
$1,000! We’ll see you at 12:00! “Hey,
Chelsea, Makenzie, there’s a grand prize, dancing and desserts at midnight!”
shouted mom excitedly. “But I’m too
tired to go. I’ll stay here while you
guys have a blast.” I said sarcastically.
I headed back to my room and read a book to calm me down. “Let’s party!” my dad called three hours
later. I stomped to the front elevator
with my head down pouting. My dad was
tugging my arm shouting, “Chelsea! You
are not going to pout! This is our only
chance to go!” Beep, beep, beep were the
buttons my sister was pushing to go to the 3rd floor. “If you turned your frown upside down, that
would make me very happy!” my mom said.
I couldn't help it. I was so
tired that if I closed my eyes for 3 seconds, I would fall asleep. The door opened… there were about 1,000
people at the party! Makenzie and I
rushed to the desserts. There was
chocolate bananas, pumpkin pie, brownies, peppermint ice cream and cookies,
etc. “I want that and that and that and
that!” Makenzie said non-stop. I just
grabbed a cookie and sat down at a table.
“Quiet everybody!” the lady called with the microphone. “I am going to pick four volunteers from the
audience to hula dance. I want….you in
the pink zebra shirt, blue shirt at the 6th table, lime green shirt
in the back row,” and she went on.
“NO! NO! NO!
NO!” I shouted while sweating because I was so nervous. I hid under the table while crying and
shaking. My mom pulled me from under the
table to the stage. I felt really
embarrassed! My mom was moving my hands
and spinning the hoop for me. Then she
walked back to her seat because she wanted to finish her dessert. I stood there while the three other girls
were hula dancing. Well, if I started
dancing, mom would be really happy. So I
started dancing. A little. She walked over to the music station to turn
on some hula music. Actually, it was
kind of fun! “Yay! Was that fun?” she asked us four girls. I walked back to my seat with a smile. My mom asked if it was fun with a big smile. “Now let’s see who can win the $1,000 grand
prize!” said the lady with the microphone.
Three of us in our family raised our hands except for me. “You three or four people who are raising
your hands, come on up!” said the lady.
We got up in the high booths and looked at the audience. “Man, there is a large crowd!” dad
whispered. “Ok, let’s get started!”
called the lady. The whole audience
clapped. Makenzie and I were on a team
and my mom and dad were on a team.
“First question….who was the first president?” asked the lady. Makenzie and I shot up our hands in the air
like a rocket blasting off! “George
Washington!” Makenzie shouted.
“Correct. One point for the
girl’s team! Now, how many miles do
cheetahs run per hour?” The lady
asked. “60!” I called. “Correct!
Now you have to get one more question right to win.” Then she asked another question. “43 square units!” I exclaimed. “Yeah!
Now you and Chelsea get to pick behind which door you want.” Makenzie and I agreed on something. We chose door #3. We were wondering what was behind it. She
opened the curtains. “AAAGGGGHHHHH!’’ we
screamed together with excitement. It
was $1,000!!!!! My mom almost bust her lungs because she was so loud! Makenzie and I raced up there and started
kissing the money. We were very excited. It had turned out to be a good midnight
party.
The next morning…
“Chelsea, Makenzie, breakfast is
ready! We are going to go on a submarine
today!” my mom screamed with excitement.
Then we ate breakfast and headed down to the lobby where we got our submarine. “Here you go.” said the guy as he was opening
the door down to the ocean. So we got in
our seats. “Mom, please, I don’t want to
go!” I yelled. I paused. I was thinking about complaining earlier and
how it turned out to be great. So I stopped
complaining and let go of my mom’s arms.
The guy showed us what the buttons would do and he started the
submarine. “Wooooooo!” Makenzie
exclaimed. It was actually very
fun. I could see all the sea life, like
dolphins, sharks, sea turtles, fish, sting rays, jelly fish, etc. Two hours later we headed back up to the
cruise ship. This was the best time of
my life.
BEEP BEEP BEEP. My alarm went off. “Mom, dad, I just had the best dream
ever! We went on a cruise ship and had a
midnight party, and we rode in a submarine, and we saw dolphins and sharks!” I
cried. “Hey, slow down. Now, you say you had a dream of going on a
cruise and you had a midnight party and you went on a submarine?” dad asked me
very confused. “Yes, sir” I said, as I
was jumping up and down with excitement.
“Now I learned a lesson. Never
complain and never be negative until you know what is really there and what is
really going to happen.” I said. “Yes, ma’am!
And you know what? We are going
on a cruise ship tomorrow!” called dad.
“Yeah!!” I shouted with excitement.
“I am not going to be afraid of anything and I am going to face my
fears”, I exclaimed. “Good girl. Now this is going to be a great trip.” said
dad. You can make life good if you are
positive about things and you can make life bad if you are negative about a lot
of things. You can do anything if you
believe in yourself! Now I can make this
trip an AWESOME trip!
