Splash day!

I'm so glad the rain held out for splash day...this is Nathan's second favorite day of school all year long!  He had a blast, and of course was glued to Matias the whole time.  These boys are the best of friends!

This was their favorite....can't get any more fun than racing each other and splashing in water at the end!

Silly boys...

More racing!  They did do other slides, but somehow I managed to get a ton of these pictures!

Popsicle time!

They had a great time today.  I can't believe we only have 2 more of these splash days before we're all done with elementary.  Time is going way too fast!

Memorial weekend fun...

This weekend was a relaxing weekend with lots of swimming for these kids!  It has rained a lot, so the water was super cold, but they didn't seem to mind at all.  They aren't chickens like mommy is when it comes to cold water!

Daddy was dying to cook out this weekend, so we planned to grill fish for dinner on Sunday night.  The minute the grilling started, a heavy rain storm came through and ended RIGHT as they brought the plates inside.  Madison was a big help holding the umbrella, but they both got soaked!  You can't tell from this picture, but they were dripping.  Definitely a memorable night!

Back to Nana and Papa's for lunch, swimming, and visiting with Gaga!

I think the kids had a great weekend!  It's hard to go back to school for only 2 days.  Can't believe summer is already here!

Field day...

We were worried that today might be cancelled because of the rain, but Nathan was able to finish most of field day before the rain hit!  He had about 45 more minutes to go, but he was able to enjoy most of it!  Daddy volunteered to help out this morning, and Nathan's teacher made them go inside RIGHT BEFORE his station.  We were bummed, but they still got to see each other.  I guess it could've been worse!

I think field day is Nathan's favorite day the entire school year.  He was counting down the minutes up until it started!  I just love this age.

Devo...

Some friends of ours had a devo at their house tonight (having a servant heart), and the kids had a blast!  We ate dinner, and the kids played outside all night.  Trampoline, playground set, lots of land, hot dogs, chips, cookies, friends...it was a lot of fun!

Last Girl Scout meeting ever...

Well, after seven years of Girl Scouts, we are done.  Madison was in a troop that was split into 6th and 7th graders (mostly 7th graders).   Her 6th grade friends are dropping Girl Scouts, and she didn't feel comfortable continuing on without them.  Plus, I think she was ready to quit...our lives are getting so much busier these days!  We had an amazing 7 years with great leaders and a lot of good memories.  I'm a little sad it's all over, but the thought of not having to sell cookies every year dissolves any sadness I feel!  It was wonderful for Madison though...and I am grateful we were able to get into such a great troop!

Nathan...

Nathan has really developed a love for reading this year!  I'm so glad that it isn't a fight getting him to read....I think it's so great for them.  He's really into series books, and loves checking out the entire series so he doesn't have to wait!  Today, he wanted some "privacy" outside and I managed to sneak in a picture.  He was just enjoying the weather and a good book!

Also, I probably should've included this in the Mother's Day post, but I was looking at this again and couldn't stop laughing.  All the recipes from his class were so funny, but I wanted to share Nathan's!

Pumpkin Pie
Ingredients:  Whip cream, bread, sugar and pumpkin.
Procedures -
   1) Get bowl
   2) Mix bread and pumpkin
   3) Mix for 2 minutes
   4) Take out into other bowl
   5) Pour 1 bag sugar in bowl (yikes!)
   6) Put in oven
   7) Wait 5 minutes
   8) Serve and enjoy!

Maybe we should try this recipe and see how it turns out!  I'm a little iffy about that whole bag of sugar though.  :)

Mother's Day 2016...

Well, Mother's Day was a little off this year!  Nathan came down with the flu Friday morning, so that put a damper on our plans for the weekend.  I was a little sad, mostly for our mom's because we wouldn't be able to have them over for lunch like we had planned.  But it all worked out.  I stayed home with Nathan while Michael and Madison went to church and then over to Nana's for lunch.  Then I met up with Gaga at Starbucks for a little while, making sure to stay away from her in case I was carrying any nasty germs (she's traveling tomorrow and we didn't want her getting sick)!  I  had breakfast made for me, beautiful roses, a coupon book, and lots of sweet cards/drawings/questionnaires!  Two answers on their questionnaires melted my heart....when Nathan was asked, "What do you think your mom was like before she had kids?" and answered, "Sad".  Also when Madison said, "Faithful" for one word to describe mommy.  I love these kids!

I felt loved, and in a weird way, Mother's Day was still great!  I spent quality cuddle time with Nathan, I saw my mom, we had some family time later in the afternoon, and I was able to relax ALL day long.  I'm always wanting a stress-free Mother's Day....and I got it!

This is what Nathan looked like most of the weekend.  Poor little guy looks so sweet when he's sick.

And here are my pretty roses that Madison picked out!  Nathan was too sick to go to the store and help.

It's the first year EVER that I've missed getting a picture of me and my babies.  I guess we'll all survive...it just wasn't in the cards for the weekend!  Memories are good too.  And my amazing husband and kids made sure I still felt loved even though it wasn't a normal Mother's Day.  I feel blessed to have them!

Sweet little brother...

Nathan came home from school very excited to give Madison a surprise.  In computer, they were making Mother's Day cards, and he told me he decided to make a card for Madison instead.  If it weren't so sweet, I'd be a tiny bit offended!

I could tell it meant a lot to Madison, and he was happy that he made her feel special.  It's in these moments when I stop and realize they DO love each other!

Solo contest...

Madison decided to perform in a solo band contest on Friday night.  She went into a room with 2 judges, introduced herself and played a song on her clarinet.  She was so nervous, but pushed herself to do it, and she ended up really enjoying it!  Today, she found out that she made division 1, which is the best she could've gotten.  She is really proud of her medal!  I'm so proud of how well she did, but most of all, that she fought through her fears and conquered them!  That's huge in my eyes.

Hospital tour...

Madison's Girl Scout Troop went on a hospital tour this afternoon.  They took them around to several different areas and taught them a lot!  I have a feeling she might not choose a profession in this area though, because she was real iffy about being in a hospital with "germs"!
