The next day we got our bathing suits on and headed down to the beach! Although Nathan wasn't afraid of the sand, he was afraid of the ocean this time! He was so hot, but was fully content to just play in the sand - and throw the sand into the ocean.
Happy Father's Day!! Michael was a very happy daddy being able to celebrate Father's Day at the beach. We didn't plan that when we first booked our trip, it just happened to be the only week we had available! These kids are so lucky to have such a wonderful daddy. They adore him and have so much fun with him!
Madison was brave right off the bat - she loved getting splashed by the waves!
Nathan wanted to be buried...
Then Michael decided to wash off the sand and get him cooled off a little! This was his reaction to that!
So we went back to the sand where he was happiest. I buried him again and he thought it was pretty cool!
We had lunch at one of our favorite restaurants - Crabs. You sit outside on the covered patio and overlook the ocean. GORGEOUS.
Taken by Nathan...
After lunch, Michael was telling Nathan we were going to the condo to get changed. He said, "Seriously! Why do you keep saying CONDO when it's our HOUSE?" I thought that was so funny. And the way he says "seriously" is hilarious...it was a frequently used word this trip for him! After we changed, we headed over to the bayside. We thought Nathan might like that better without all the waves, and he did!
And we spent a lot of time at the pool too. We drove 700 miles, and these kids were asking for the pool! I got these pictures though, and I love them. Madison has learned how to get Nathan on her shoulders and throw him. He loves it!
These pictures are Monday through Wednesday - I lost track of which days these were taken on! But, as of Monday, Nathan was no longer afraid of the ocean. He eased into it slowly, and before we knew it, he was running into the waves like a wild man! These kids had so much fun in the waves. I loved hearing their little giggles and laughs every time a wave came in.
I tried to get my annual beach hat shot!
Nathan's favorite thing to do was JUMP! Jump in the waves, jump off the sand, jump in the pool, jump while walking, etc. That's all the boy wanted to do! He sure does have a lot of energy for as little as he eats!
Madison took this picture of us!
This was at Flounders - our other favorite restaurant. The kids played and played during our lunch, while mommy and daddy got to sit there and talk/relax! They loved this little fort that had spraying water! Water combined with sand = MESSY, which they loved! Except for Madison when it was time to eat...she's our clean one.
Our last trip to the beach. Talk about humid - my camera kept fogging up!
Madison loved it all, especially the waves and looking for seashells. She also LOVED sleeping on the top bunk in their bunk beds. Nathan loved it all, especially after Sunday! They both had such a great time, and they really enjoyed having each other on this trip. I just melt when I see them together and hear them laughing. They love each other so much and it shows. We had such a wonderful family vacation, and I'm so thankful that we were able to make these memories! The memories I have as a kid are of family vacations, and I want to make as many of these good memories for our kids as we can! These vacations always go by so quickly, but I loved every minute of it (except for the tummy bug that passed my way for a day!). I cherish our family time, and we all love having Michael around for this long! Just seeing my kids filled with such joy makes it even more wonderful.
